The ruling Telanaga Rastra Samithi government is in big trouble over the mishandling of the intermediate results this time. There is overwhelming criticism of the government from the parents of the students. There were a dozen students who committed suicide after the results were announced and the expected results were denied to them. The students who have done well in the examination were disappointed with the low ranks that they were granted by the Board of Intermediate Education.
The TRS working president K Taraka Ramarao came before the media and also took questions from the people on his twitter handle. He admitted the mishandling by the Board and regretted the suicides committed by some students. He said he would take personal care to rectify the lapses. He further said that the government would do justice to the students. He also tried to convince the students and the parents that he himself is a parent and he knows their pain.
The government had failed in this case and the minister Jagadishwar Reddy was not available in the capital to release the results or to respond to the uproar there after. Though the model code of conduct is in force, the government and the minister must have been available to the parents at least when they gathered at the Intermediate Board office. The issue might lose its importance and the people might forget it, but the parents who have lost their children will never forget this failure of the government.
The TRS which was busy in the successive elections for the past six months is accused of ignoring the administration. The officials were left to work without any monitoring by the ruling party. It is to be seen how the TRS leadership would handle this in the days to come.
