Fact Check: AI generated image shared as a communal claim

AI-generated images are being circulated with False claims.

On September 15, two new Vande Bharat Express trains commenced their journeys from Odisha's Brahmapur and Rourkela, following a virtual flag-off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated four such trains in Jharkhand. The trains launched from Odisha are the Rourkela-Howrah and Brahmapur-Tatanagar routes. Special ceremonies were held at both Brahmapur and Rourkela railway stations to mark the occasion. Odisha Governor Raghubar Das and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the events at the respective stations. The two trains began operating through Odisha on September 15, as part of the six Vande Bharat Express trains inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, several photos have been circulating widely on social media. The image depicts a man sitting on a railway track, holding a large stone. Users have shared the photo with captions written in Odia across various social media platforms. The text reads “କର ନିର୍ମାଣ ନୂଆ ରେଳପଥ, ତେଜସ ଆଉ ବନ୍ଦେ ଭାରତ ! ଯଦି ତୁମେ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିବା ଶିଖିଛ ଆମକୁ ବିଧ୍ବଂଶ କରିବା ଜଣା। ଆମଭଳି ଶାନ୍ତିପ୍ରିୟ ମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭଙ୍ଗା ଭଙ୍ଗି, ଜଳା ପୋଡ଼ା ଉପରେ ୧୪୦୦ ବର୍ଷର ଅଭିଜ୍ଞତା ଅଛି" I

When translated to English, it reads: "Build new railways, Tejas, and Vande Bharat trains! If you know how to build, we know how to break. Peace-loving people like us have 1,400 years of experience in breaking and burning”.

At the same time, it was found that some users shared the same images article by writing it in Hindi also.

 Fact Check:

Our investigation found the claim to be false, as the viral images are AI generated

A search across credible news agencies revealed no relevant coverage of the image.

Upon conducting a reverse image search, we discovered that numerous users had shared the same image with identical captions.

To verify the authenticity of the photos, we used the 'Is It AI' tool. The image shows a man dressed in white with a beard, sitting on a railway track and holding a large stone. 'Is It AI' confirmed that the image is 81% likely to have been generated by AI."




Upon closer examination of the photo, you can see a logo that reads 'Imagined with AI,' which is the logo of Meta AI. Similarly, other photos have been reported to display the same logo."



When we searched for 'Imagined with AI,' we found that it is an online AI tool allowing users to create custom photos that resemble real photographs. This confirms that the viral images were created using the 'Imagined with AI' tool.

Additionally, another photo was found to be 98% AI-generated after being analyzed with Hive Moderation.




Hence, we found the claim is false. All the viral images related to the claim were generated by AI.
