Fact Check: AP BJP president Purandeswari did not release any press release about her resignation from the party post

After these allegations, a letter on the letterhead of Mrs. Daggubati Purandeswari, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andhra Pradesh went viral on social media platforms including WhatsApp, claiming that she resigned as party president.

He resigned from the party in 2014 against the injustice done to the people of Andhra by the Congress party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. I have worked so hard to strengthen the party since then till today. I discharged all the responsibilities assigned by the party. I felt fortunate to work under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the development of the country. I have been serving the Bharatiya Janata Party for the past ten years. I have stood on the side of the people. In recognition of my hard work, on July 4, 2023, the BJP leadership appointed me as the president of Andhra Pradesh BJP. After taking charge of the presidency, the focus was on the strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra state and the strategies to be followed in the 2024 elections.

However, on 21.03.2024 (Thursday), it came to my notice that drugs were seized in a container shipped to one of our close relative and business partner at Visakhapatnam. The person is known to be the owner of Sandhya Exports, our brother-in-law Veerabhadra Rao.

In this background, many accusations are being made against me on social media and mainstream media. There are rumours that my husband and my son are involved in this affair. I inform you that there is no truth in the news and propaganda. I have decided to step down from the post of president until the guilty is found in this case. I have taken this decision with the intention not to tarnish the reputation of the BJP which is untainted by corruption. I hope the party leaders and workers will respect my decision. I would like to thank the BJP ranks who have supported me all these years. I would like to inform you that I will soon submit my resignation letter to the party's National President Shri JP Nadda."

The claim of her resignation is also shared without the letter attached by some users.

The press note is also viral on Whatsapp too.

The claim that Daggubati Purandeswari released a press note that she is resigning as party president is False. The letter is a hoax.

When we searched using the keywords “బీజేపీ ఏపి రాష్ట్ర అధ్యక్ష పదవికి పురందేశ్వరి రాజీనామా..!” in Telugu and keywords “Daggubati Purandeswari Resigns as AP BJP Party president” in English, we did not find any such letter published on her social media accounts.

The latest post shared by her was congratulating PM Narendra Modi for receiving the Order of the Drul Gyalpo in Bhutan.

When searched on social media accounts of BJP AP, we found posts stating that the letter in circulation is a fake one. The accounts shared the message in Telugu and English stating “ముఖ్య సూచన సామజిక మాధ్యమాల్లో విస్తృత ప్రచారం జరుగుతున్న ఈ లెటర్ ఒక ఫేక్ లెటర్. NDA కూటమి వ్యతిరేక శక్తులు ప్రచారం చేస్తున్న ఫేక్ న్యూస్ అని గమనించగలరు A Fake letter claims that BJP AP State President Smt Daggubati Purandeswari has resigned. Please note that it is fake news being circulated by anti-NDA alliance forces.”

The BJP media division also shared messages on WhatsApp stating that the letter is a hoax.

Therefore, the claim that Daggubati Purandeswari released a press note that she is resigning as party president is False. She has released no such letter.
