After taking oath as Prime Minister for the third time, Modi completed his first trip to Italy to participate in the G7. India was one of the 12 countries invited to the resort town of Fasano in Italy’s Apulia region – part of Italian PM Meloni’s push to involve the Global South with the G7. Meloni also invited Pope Francis to address the G7 for the first time. During his visit, Modi met some of the world leaders and held bilateral talks with France, Germany, Japan, Italy and UK. He had only a formal meeting with US president Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau.

Meanwhile, a video showing PM Modi walking with another person is in circulation on the social media with the claim that Modi has refused to shake hands with president Joe Biden to keep America in place. When translated, it claims: “By not shaking hands with Joe Biden, Modi Ji showed America its place. The consequences of interfering in our elections will show our place to the world!!”

Fact Check:

The claim is False. The man seen in the video is not American President Joe Biden.

When we searched the keyframes extracted from the video, we found a longer video published on YouTube showing the man seen in the viral video, can be seen greeting and escorting other leaders to the venue. The title of the video is President Erdogan in Italy for the G7 Leaders Summit
