Fact Check: Modi did not express support to the MIM, the audio was altered

A 26-sec video is circulating on social media with the claim that BJP leader Narendra Modi is supporting AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen). In the video, Modi is heard saying, “Telangana is saying Congress nakko BRS nakko, BJP nakko, MIM ko ich vote denge”.

A 26-sec video is circulating on social media with the claim that BJP leader Narendra Modi is supporting AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen). In the video, Modi is heard saying, “Telangana is saying Congress nakko BRS nakko, BJP nakko, MIM ko ich vote denge”. In the end, he also said: “MIM ko hi jitayenge Bahoot Bahoot Dhanyabad”.

In English, it means: "Telangana is saying not Congress, not BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), not BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi), vote for MIM. We will make MIM win". In the video, there is an overlaid text: “Modi Ne Hyderabad Me AIMIM ko Kiya Support”, in English, it means “Modi supported AIMIM in Hyderabad”

Users from different social media platforms shared the video with a claim “Modi supported AIMIM in Hyderabad

Fact Check: We found the claim is false; the video was edited and shared on social media. In the original video, we found Narendra Modi speaking in support of BJP.

When we searched PM Modi's public meeting in Hyderabad, we found a live stream on Narendra Modi official YouTube Channel.

We found the original version of the clip at 3.26 time stamp. In his speech, Modi says “Congress Nakko, BRS Nakko, MIM Nakko, BJP ko ich vote denge”.

In English, it reads: “Telangana is saying not Congress, Not BRS, Not MIM , We will vote only for BJP.

During the search, we found in the text format, the entire speech uploaded in www.narendramodi.in

We also found on May 10, 2024, The Statesman published an article with the headline “Congress agenda anti-development and anti-national: PM in Telangana". In paragraph number 9, The Statesman published Modi speech.

 Hence, it is clear that the video has been edited and is being circulated to misinform viewers. In the original video, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was actually encouraging people to vote for the BJP.
