FACT CHECK:
We found that the viral tweet belonged to a person named Sonu Nigam whose username was '@Sonunigamsingh'. The account's bio states that he is a criminal lawyer from Bihar. The Instagram account tagged to this account shows a different person with the name Sonu Nigam Singh and not the singer Sonu Nigam. Clearly, this proves that the tweet in support of Unacademy was not posted by the singer.
With regard to singer Sonu Nigam, he deleted his X account in April 2017. On 24 May 2017, the singer posted a series of tweets announcing that he would delete his Twitter account. Clearly, singer Sonu Nigam has not made any statements about the ongoing Unacademy controversy as claimed. The statement was made by another person with the same name.
Thus, the claim is false.
