Fact Check: Video showing police coming to rescue of roadside vendor with her saree stuck under car wheel is staged

Meanwhile, a video is widely being shared on social media with the claims that the policemen came to the rescue of a roadside vegetable vendor whose saree got stuck under the wheel of a car tyre.

The video is going viral across various social media platforms and the netizens are seen praising the men in uniform for showing their human side.

Sharing the video on Instagram, a user @upscthemission_ captioned it, “Respect increased for cops.” The same video is also garnering widespread attention on X here.

During the investigation, the Telugupost Fact Check team found this claim to be false as it is a scripted video.

To investigate the claim, we first extracted the key moments of the viral video through InVid tool and subsequently tried to find a match through Google Reverse Image Search tool. When we searched with the keyframes of the video, we found an Instagram post with the same content. The recording frame in the video displayed the date as April 12, 2024 which makes it clear that the video is not recent.

We then ran a Google Search query with appropriate keywords and also conducted searches in X and Facebook platforms. The Facebook search led to a post by a user ‘Sanjana Galrani’ with the caption, “Are they did right?”

The caption also contained this text, “Disclaimer: Thank you for watching! Please be aware that this page features scripted dramas and parodies as well. These short films are for entertainment & educational purposes only! Characters in this video are entertainment and educational purpose.”

As we continued our search, we came across a video which was posted on YouTube with the title, “Who Is Correct..? See What This Car Owner Did to The Poor Vegitable Seller.”
