Fact Check:
The claim is misleading. Thrombobliss tablets help raise the platelet count in patients but does not cure dengue.
When we searched for Thrombobliss tablets and syrup, we found several results.
A website named 1mg.com, a retail healthcare platform, explains that the Thrombobliss Capsule contains Carica papaya leaf - 325 mg and Tinospora cordifolia - 125 mg.
Carica papaya leaf is used to increase the count of platelets in the blood. It contains several active components such as papain, chymopapain, cystatin, L-tocopherol, ascorbic acid, flavonoids, cyanogenic glucosides, and glucosinolates. They have a therapeutic effect on disease processes causing destabilization of biological membranes and helping in increasing platelet and red blood cell counts.
Tinospora cordifolia bolsters the immune system. It also fights against tissue damage and thus it ensures early recovery from diseases.
Thrombobliss Capsule is recommended for Dengue/Malaria, ITP (Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura- a disorder that can lead to easy or excessive bruising and bleeding), and adjuvant in chemotherapy acute microbial infections.
According to the research article published in the International Journal of Clinical Trials, in 2017, the research results showed that there is an increase in the platelet count after 72 hours of ingestion of the tablet or syrup. This study shows that a novel combination of Carica papaya and Tinospora cordifolia leaf extract effectively increases platelet count and can be used to treat thrombocytopenia. However there is no mention of a definite cure for dengue disease in the study.
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, proof of concept study to assess the safety and efficacy of Carica papaya and Tinospora cordifolia leaf extract (Thrombobliss) in subjects undergoing chemotherapy treatment and subjects with systemic microbial infection and subsequent reduction in platelet count | International Journal of Clinical Trials (ijclinicaltrials.com)
According to WHO, the symptoms of dengue begin to show from 4–10 days after infection and last for 2–7 days. There is no specific treatment for dengue. The focus is on treating pain symptoms.
The claim was debunked by Factly in 2019.
Therefore, Thrombobliss tablets and syrup cannot treat dengue and get the patient discharged in 2 days. The claim is false.
