Fact Check: Video of a mob attacking houses in Kerala makes a misleading claim
A video of a mob throwing stones at houses in Kerala is viral on social media claiming to show people from the Muslim community attacking houses and threatening Hindu owners.
Old video of IUML workers attacking houses in retaliation to a murder falsely shared as Muslim community threatening Hindu owners.
The video is being shared with the caption, "Muslims throwing stones on Hindu bungalows in Kerala threatening them to vacate, same like Kashmir model. This has become common in Kerala. Rahul, Nitish, Akhilesh love them the most because they think they are peace loving, lovable, innocent minorities who tortured by Hindus."

FACT CHECK:
Upon performing a reverse image search, we found a news bulletin by Manorama News uploaded on August 15, 2016 with visuals similar to that in the viral video. The video was uploaded with the caption, "More than 50 houses attacked in Nadapuram from August 15, 2016.” Nadapuram is a town in Kozhikode district of Kerala.
This shows that while the video is from Kerala, it is old.
The video states that there was a widespread attack against houses in Nadapuram when nearly 51 houses belonging to Congress, BJP and CPI(M) supporters were targeted. Cases were registered against 50 people in this connection.
According to news reports by The Times of India and News Minute from 2016, the attack was in retaliation to the killing of an Indian Union of Muslim League (IUML) worker in Nadapuram. Matrubhumi later reported that a CPM activist was arrested in connection with the murder.
Evidently, it is clear that the viral video is from 2016 and shows IUML workers attacking houses belonging to leaders of other political parties, in retaliation to the murder of their fellow member.
