A video showing a man dancing to the tunes of ‘Tauba Tauba', a song from the Hindu movie “Bad News” is going viral with the claim that the man dancing is former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan.
Fact Check:
The claim is False. The man dancing in the video is not Muttiah Muralitharan. When we performed a reverse image search of the keyframes extracted from the video, we found that the video was shared on a YouTube channel as a short on July 25, 2024.
The YouTube channel is named Mr. KiranJ, which has more videos of the same person dancing. Even the people dancing behind him can be matched.
His Facebook page also shared the same video with the caption “Repeat workshop announcement online @studio/local”
According to the Economic Times, choreographer Kiran Jopale has become an unexpected internet sensation after a video of him dancing to the Bollywood song ‘Tauba Tauba’ went viral. Several fans confused Jopale for Sri Lankan Cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan due to their striking resemblance. In the video, Jopale can be seen performing energetic dance moves with notable enthusiasm. Despite his impressive performance, the real buzz has been about his resemblance to Muralitharan. Many netizens initially believed the video featured the famous cricketer, but it is indeed choreographer Kiran Jopale.
Hence, the viral video does not show Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan dancing to the tunes of the Bollywood song “Tauba Tauba”. It is choreographer named Kiran Jopale from Mumbai dancing in the video. The claim is False.
