Fact Check: Viral video of fire at World Cup stadium in Qatar is MISLEADING
The claim in Bengali goes as “বিশ্বকাপ খেলার মাঠে ভয়াবহ আগুন!!আগুনের ভয়াবহতা বেড়ে ভয়ংকর আকার ধারণ,কাতারে।“, when translated it says “A terrible fire at the World Cup stadium!!”
A fire broke out in one of the cities of Qatar on November 26, 2022, where one of the world cup matches is set to be played. After this, a video showing fire just in front of the goalpost and a stadium filled with black soot was in circulation claiming that it shows the visuals of fire during a football match at the stadium of World Cup 2022.

The claim is FALSE. The video does not show fire breaking at the World Cup stadium in Qatar.
When the keyframes extracted from the video were searched using Google reverse image search, we found a YouTube video published by 4s-tv on May 13, 2018, titled "Hamburger SV - Borussia Mönchengladbach | Pyro-Riot & Game Interruption | 12.05.2018"
The video is from a Bundesliga game (Germany's professional football league) between Hamburg sport-verein (Hamburg SV) and Verein fur Leibesubungen Wolfsburg (Vfl Wolfsburg) at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany on May 12, 2018.
According to expesss.co.uk, HAMBURG fans sparked chaotic scenes following their side's relegation from the Bundesliga, causing the match against Borussia Monchengladbach to be halted. Flares covered the pitch and smoke engulfed the crowd at the Volksparkstadion, delaying the end of the match as hundreds of police and stewards made their way onto the field.
Two lines of police were spotted in opposition to the rioting supporters – some wearing masks and a few mounted officers.
We also found an article by ESPN that states protests from Hamburg fans delayed the end of their season finale in some chaotic scenes, but they could not halt the Bundesliga Club from relegating them, for the first time in their history.
Therefore, the claim that the viral video shows a fire accident that took place at the World Cup stadium in Qatar is FALSE. The video is from 2018 in Germany.
