Several parts of the Indian sub-continent witnessed heavy rains and a few are experiencing monsoon even now. States including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh received heavy rainfall leading to flash floods and landslides. The nation’s capital, Delhi, also faced a flood-like situation as River Yamuna breached its banks following incessant rain. Several cities like Vrindavan and Mathura have also been flooded by River Yamuna. Mumbai city and its suburbs are also facing heavy rain. States like Telangana are also facing waterlogging due to continuous rains.
Meanwhile, a video showing a few people being swept away in the high tide at a beach is in circulation with a caption that it shows a recent incident at Bandra Bandstand, Mumbai.
The video shows people enjoying high tides at a beach when a huge wave sweeps away a few people, leaving those nearby as mere spectators. This video is shared with the caption: “This is where there is a thin line of difference between Entertainment and Tragedy Bandra bandstand. Be careful everyone while going to such places.”

Fact Check:
The claim that the video is from Bandra, Mumbai, and is recent is false.
Upon searching with keywords “people drown in Bandra Bandstand”, we found a few reports about a woman recently drowning at Bandra, while taking a selfie video. The video showing a woman sitting on the rocks at the beach along with her husband has been published by several news reports which is completely different from the viral video.
When we performed a reverse image search using Google, we found several news reports from July 2022.
According to ndtv.com, the video was shot in Oman when the incident took place at Mughsail beach when a man from Maharashtra and his children were swept away by a huge tide.
According to al-Arabiya.net, a family of eight Asian expats fell into the sea after they crossed the fence at Mughsail Beach in the Dhofar Governorate. Three of those who fell were rescued shortly after the authority reported, and emergency care was readily provided to them. Two members of the family, one of who was a child, were reportedly found dead on Tuesday by the CDAA. Three people are yet to be found.
Oman police also tweeted about the incident. The tweet goes “An Asian family of five people was swept in the waves, including three children, after they crossed the safety barrier of the rocky cliff in the Mughsail region of Dhofar Governorate and fell into the sea, and the search and rescue teams are following up.”
Hence, the viral video does not show the incident that took place at the Bandra Bandstand recently. The incident took place at a beach in Oman in 2022. The claim is false.
