All political parties in the State have boycotted the all-party meeting called by Telugu Desam Party supremo and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu scheduled for today. The Chief Minister’s office had sent invitations to the leaders of all political parties, peoples’ organisations and associations asking them to attend the meeting to chalk-out plan of action on fighting for special category status and other bifurcation issues under his leadership.
While the employees associations and some peoples’ organisations are expected to turn up at the meeting, no political party is ready to share the dais with Chandrababu Naidu. The Bharatiya Janata Party is not ready to be part of this meeting as they claim more than what was promised to the State was already delivered and they put the blame on the state government for its indifferent attitude towards the Centre in getting funds and utilising them.
The Congress, which is now in friendly-relationship with the TDP is now decided to keep off from this meet ahead of the Central government’s move for the vote-on account budget and there is little for the Centre now to do anything for the State. The Congress claimed that Rahul Gandhi had promised the special category status to the State if he becomes the prime minister and the Congress job was now to work towards that target.
The CPI , CPM and Pawan Kalyan’s jana sena have rejected the invitation for the meeting on the ground that they have been fighting for special category status and Chandrababu Naidu government had filed cases against them. Not a single case filed against the activists was withdrawn and there was no meaning in joining hands with the TDP at this point of time.
The Opposition YSR Congress is unwilling to share dais with the TDP which had given up the State’s claim for the special category status and had settled for the special package offered by the BJP leadership. The YSR Congress held the TDP responsible for the state losing the claim for the SCS and the TDP had no right to claim for the SCS and is not ready to join the meeting.
It is now just the TDP, the chief minister and some peoples’ organisation that are scheduled to be present at the meeting.
