Are the symbols of AP capital being erased from Amaravati? The answer is yes. Looking at the reports given by two committees over Amaravati, it looks certain that Visakhapatnam will become the capital. Anybody with political awareness will say that only a formal announcement is remaining. Boston committee has also followed in to the footsteps of G N Rao committee. The report has come on similar lines. This report is a somewhat detailed with development statistics.
Capital related activity has also started in Visakhapatnam. Chief Minister Office secretary Praveen Prakash’s latest visit to Visakhapatnam has given clarity to this effect. It is said that he collected all details like where are the vacant government lands and what is the condition of government buildings. It is also said that during this visit he figured out which office can be set up where.
As the Boston committee report has described Visakhapatnam as a better city, revenue sources believe that the secretariat will be shifted to Visakhapatnam in a few months. Currently all the works are going on over oral orders. Discussions are going on as to where should Chief Minister’s office be located, where should secretariat come up and where should be the accommodation for secretariat employees.
There are certain formalities to be fulfilled by the government. All these are likely to be completed by the month-end and Chief Minister Jagan is likely to make a formal announcement in the Assembly to tell the AP people that Visakhapatnam will be our capital. Jagan has complete clarity over the capital issue. The reports are also on same lines. Only high power committee report has to come and it is also likely to be in favour of Visakhapatnam. Overall, it is believed that by the Telugu New Year AP story will change with Visakhapatnam as the new capital.
