In a few hours from now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the people of the State at Guntur even as the people of the State hold black flag protests across the State. The protests started from Thursday and they are spreading all over now. Posters and banners have come across the State asking Modi to go back and blaming him for denial of special category status and other bifurcation benefits. Some people have put up black flags atop their buildings to express their anger against the injustice done to the state by the Prime Minister.
The ruling Telugu Desam Party is spearheading the protests while the Congress and the Communists too joined. The activists of the TDP, Congress, CPI and CPM are holding protests across the State and the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have complained to the DGP asking for protection. The BJP leaders also raised objection to the State government sponsoring protests for the Prime Minister’s visit. The BJP leaders have forced the police to remove some of the hoardings that have come up in Vijayawada and Guntur showing black flags to the prime minister.
Chandrababu Naidu had written an open letter to the Prime Minister to justify his visit to the State after doing so much injustice to the State. He raised the questions relating to the special category status, financial support for Amaravati, the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission in devolution of funds to the State and Polavaram project. Chandrababu Naidu said that Modi had betrayed to people of the State by denying all these benefits to the State and wondered why the Prime Minister was coming to the State!
Meanwhile, the BJP leaders in the State are hoping that Modi would take on Chandrababu Naidu and expose his opportunist politics. They expect Modi to show all his oratory skills in attacking and exposing Chandrababu Naidu on the Central government’s support to the State and Chandrababu Naidu’s U turns on core issues.
While TDP leaders claim that Naidu had exposed Modi on the injustice done to the State, the BJP leaders are waiting for Modi to expose Naidu’s betrayal politics. It is to be seen who will expose whom!
