The Bharatiya Janata Party leadership in Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for a big fight with the ruling YSR Congress. The party leaders find that the YSR Congress is resorting to violence against the political rivals and also taking administration backward through reverse decisions.
Former minister and BJP AP president Kanna Lakshminarayana told his party leaders to get ready for a big fight against the YSR Congress on August 16. The party would hold protests in the State citing incidents of attacks on the BJP leaders in Palnadu region of Guntur district, from where Kanna wants a foothold for the party in the days to come. As the Telugu Desam Party is getting diluted with every passing day, this former Congress leader wants to take advantage of the situation to strengthen the BJP in the State.
Lakshminarayana plans to emerge as the main opposition in the State and is now targeting the YSR Congress and Jaganmohan Reddy government. He found fault with the Jaganmohan Reddy government’s decisions on Polavaram Project, Amaravati city and the sand policy. He too seems to be feeling the heat with the government’s decision to review the power purchase agreements, the Polavaram Project and the Amaravati city, where the YSR Congress found massive corruption during the last five years.
The contractors, who have been engaged in these projects by the previous TDP government are also closely associated with the BJP in the State. They have been using the political power to silence Jaganmohan Reddy, who is bent on hitting them hard for their political affiliations. Most of the contractors in the State are either associated with the TDP or the BJP and Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be firm on delinking them. The task on Polavaram, Amaravati and sand mining are handled to weaken the financial connections of the TDP and BJP, which keeps both the parties on fire. It is to be seen how the AP BJP leaders would handle the issue as Jaganmohan Reddy is firm on hitting them hard.
