The beleaguered Telugu Desam Party in AP is making all out efforts, though slowly, to get back into the Bharatiya Janata Party’s fold. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu had openly admitted that he had nothing personal against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also admitted that breaking up alliance with the BJP was a mistake and the TDP had paid heavy price.
Chandrababu Naidu’s close associates, Y S Chowdary and C M Ramesh, have already defected to the BJP and are lobbying for their former boss. They are leaving no stone unturned to patch up between the BJP and the TDP at the national level. Chandrababu Naidu is also in a hurry to get the BJP’s support to survive in the State politics against the forward march of the ruling YSR Congress.
In this backdrop, BJP MP and the party national spokesman G V L Narasimha Rao, refused to accept the olive branch offered by the TDP. In Vijayawada, he told media persons that the TDP has lost its credibility and Chandrababu Naidu is not a trustworthy leader.
“There is no reason why we (BJP) should look for alliance with a party (TDP) that was defeated by the people,” the BJP MP asked. He further said that there was not much of use for the BJP in looking for alliance in AP politics. However, he welcomed the TDP leaders to join the BJP.
In a shocking statement, the BJP MP also advised Chandrababu Naidu to merge the TDP with BJP and he offered to help him by taking up the issue with the party top leadership. “There is no future for the TDP in AP. It is time for the TDP to merge the party with the BJP and have some bright future ahead,” GVL Narasimha Rao said.
However, Chandrababu Naidu’s loyalists in BJP, Y S Chowdary and C M Ramesh, are working hard to build relations with the TDP, despite the fact that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are not interested any more to have alliance with Naidu.
