The beleaguered Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh is set to lose its strength as elections are fast approaching. The party floor leader P Vishnukumar Raju, had almost decided to quit the party soon. He had been close to the Telugu Desam Party right from the beginning of his election in alliance and his friendly relation was found several times in the Assembly.
He was more upset when the alliance between the TDP and the BJP broke and it was not to his liking. He allowed the TDP leaders to criticise the party on the floor of the Assembly many times and was seen enjoying the criticism. He had high praise for Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and he had never hesitated to display his love for the TDP chief.
After the break-up with the TDP, the electoral prospects of the BJP have zeroed and there is no chance of the party winning even a single seat in the next elections. The BJP leaders in the State have lost the hopes on the party which could not improve its base in the State despite the Modi’s wave in the last five years. Now, the special category status had caused severe damage to the BJP and the party had lost its vote base, whatever exists.
In this background, Vishnukumar Raju is planning to jump into the TDP and be the party’s candidate for the next election. There are many leaders in the AP BJP who are waiting at the exit gate. They are only waiting for the time to come.
BJP’s legislator from Rajamahendravaram, Akula Satyanarayana, is also one of the senior leaders who are said to be standing at the out gate of the party. It is strongly said that Akula is looking at the Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party and is waiting for the right time to switch over. Even Kaikaluru MLA and former minister Dr Kamineni Srinivas too is getting ready to quit the party to join the ruling TDP. Though elected on the BJP ticket, Kamineni Srinivas was more a TDP leader than the BJP and it would not take much time for him to jump into the TDP.
