In a surprise development, former chief minister and Telugu Desam Party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu had cursed the people for defeating him in the 2019 general elections. He said that he had worked hard and developed the state with double digit growth from revenue deficit after bifurcation. The next five years, if he were to continue in power, the State would have been on the top of the country in development, he said.
Chandrababu Naidu, addressed a group of party workers at the party State office in Guntur, the other day, where he said he was clueless on his defeat. “What wrong have I done to give me just 23 Assembly seats?” he asked. He said he had given welfare schemes to every section, besides developing the State during the last five years. “I have given pensions. I have given houses. I have laid roads. I have given water. What is left and what else was expected from me?” he asked.
“You have defeated a cow giving milk and voted for a male buffalo. It is for you to suffer. I have seen defeats too in my career,” he finally said that chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy had no vision for development and welfare. He said that the new government had betrayed the people of all sections and was going against the development. “There is reverse administration in the State. The developmental works like Amaravati and Polavaram have taken a backseat. The capital city would have been a world class city in next five years. The blue print was ready. But, people have defeated me and this city will never happen,” Chandrababu Naidu said referring to the new government’s decisions to review the Amaravati and Polavaram contracts.
He also had a bit of curse for his party workers, who, according to him, relaxed during the elections, thinking that his developmental activities would win votes. “The cadre did not work as expected. They thought that people would vote for me,” he said.
