Telugu Desam Party supremo and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had cautioned the people against voting for a criminal like YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy. He said that the YSR Congress is facing 31 cases, including some criminal cases and asked the people whether they would vote for such a known offender. “Do you want a visionary or a criminal,” Naidu asked the people during his electioneering.
Chandrababu Naidu is presenting the developmental works that his government had done in the last five years and seeking vote on the merits of his work. He is also asking the people to vote for continuation of the developmental works, particularly Polavaram Project and Amaravati, the new capital. He said that the Amaravati would be disturbed if the TDP is defeated. He also cautioned the people that investments would not come to the State if a visionary is defeated and a criminal is voted.
The TDP chief had asked the people to vote for him and not the 175 candidates for Assembly and 25 candidates for Parliament seats. “Don’t look at the candidates here. Look at me. I am the candidate for 175 Assembly seats and 25 Parliament seats. Your vote is for me not the candidates,” Chandrababu Naidu told the voters.
Naidu has the issues of development on one side and conspiracy against the State by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Telangana Rastra Samithi and the YSR Congress on the other. The TDP teams, including the NRI teams, have been extensively campaigning for the party. A series of meetings are being held by these NRI teams across the 175 constituencies meeting cross sections of the people. The NRI teams are giving a comparative statement of the leadership qualities of Chandrababu Naidu on one side and that of Jaganmohan Reddy on the other to project the TDP supremo as the best choice for the State.
It is to be seen if these efforts would help the TDP chief to retain the power for another five years.
