ED official who favoured TDP in Jagan cases is raided

Bollineni Srinivasa Gandhi

A former official of the Enforcement Directorate, Bollineni Srinivasa Gandhi, is now under the CBI scanner. The CBI had raided his houses and offices simultaneously on Tuesday. The initial raids have found that Gandhi is holding disproportionate assets worth Rs 30 crore. He was one of the key officers who handled disproportionate assets case of Jaganmohan Reddy, during his stint in the Enforcement Directorate. The YSR Congress alleged that he was in favour of Telugu Desam Party and its chief Chandrababu Naidu in dealing with the cases. It was alleged that he was leaking information on the cases to Chandrababu Naidu.

It was on the complaint of Jaganmohan Reddy the Central government had shifted Gandhi from the Enforcement Directorate to the GST in the anti-evasion wing. A Telugu man with social connection with the TDP, he had always been against Jaganmohan Reddy ever since cases were filed against him in 2010, following his revolt against the Congress. Gandhi helped the TDP against Jaganmohan Reddy. He was one of the officials in the ED, who have been loyal to the TDP .

With Jaganmohan Reddy winning the Assembly elections with thumping majority and the TDP reduced to the 23 MLAs, the BJP seems to have planned this raid to further clip Chandrababu Naidu, who played key role at the national level against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of the general elections. The BJP leadership is trying to isolate Chandrababu Naidu by cutting the roots that he had over the years in every government institution.

It is alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had his loyalists in every department of the Central government including the ED, CBI and the judiciary. Once all these channels are disconnected, the BJP believes that Chandrababu Naidu would be cut to size. It is to be seen what move that the BJP would make next.
