YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy is set to complete his long march to Ichapuram town in Srikakulam district on January 9. His party men are getting things ready for the mega event to mark the closure of the prestigious event.
Jaganmohan Reddy had launched his mega walk at Idupulayapaya on November 6, 2017 and is set to close it on January 9, 2019, walking for almost 3,641 km in 341 days. This is a history in the Indian politics. Though Acharya Vinobha Bhave walked for more than 8,000 km, it was with lot of breaks in terms of days and places. He did not walk from village to village or town to town. He opted to walk in the places where he could find some land donors.
Mahatma Gandhi too had walked for freedom but it was from Ahmadabad in Gujarat to Dandi, which is popular as Dandi March.
Jaganmohan Reddy’s father had walked for 1,470 km and his sister Sharmila walked for 3,112 km. Telugu Desam Party supremo also walked from Hindupur to Visakhapatnam in 2013 covering 2,800 km.
Among these politicians, Jaganmohan Reddy had covered the longest distance so far, 3,641 km to be precise in 341 days, which is a record by itself. Keeping this historical importance, the YSR Congress leaders have almost captured the Ichapuram town to mark the event. They are building a pylon to mark the occasion, an 88-feet tall pylon.
The party leaders have already descended on this town from various districts and helping the works to make this ready for the pylon and the proposed public meeting to be addressed by Jaganmohan Reddy, when he ends his walk.
The leaders are flying high on the success of the walk as it is marked with ride to power in politics. The padayatra by his father had given him power. The padayatra had also given power to Chandrababu Naidu. This is what the YSR Congress leaders are confident of their leader too riding to success.
