Telugu Desam Party supremo and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, once again, targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for shielding the corrupt and criminals in the country. In a no-holds-barred attack on Narendra Modi, the TDP chief picked up the old case against YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy and questioned the prime minister for not allowing the CBI to take action. He alleged that the prime minister was shielding the corrupt and criminal leaders including Jaganmohan Reddy, only for electoral gains.
Chandrababu Naidu took out the copies of the letter by Enforcement Directorate director, Karnal Singh to the CBI director Alok Kumar Verma in 2017 on a land and money transfer case in Kukatpally, Hyderabad. He said the prime minister had been keeping this letter since 2017 and was not allowing the ED and CBI to proceed further against Jaganmohan Reddy. In return, Jaganmohan Reddy had become a puppet in the hands of the BJP leaders, the TDP chief alleged.
The TDP chief further said that Narendra Modi had turned the Prime Minister’s office into a den for criminals and YSR Congress MP V Vijayasai Reddy was seen hiding in the PMO most of the time. He questioned the presence of Vijayasai Reddy, who is A2 in several cases along with Jaganmohan Reddy, in the PMO and asserted that it indicated that Modi is a chowkidar (watchman) for criminals and not the people.
It was just a repeat of the charge. Jaganmohan Reddy was arrested on the same and some more charges in the past and is on bail attending the CBI court every Friday. The papers, or the letters revealed by the TDP chief or the media that supports the TDP, are nothing new but a rewind. This looked like the TDP’s armour is exhausted which is why the old papers are now brought into circulation, as afresh.
Chandrababu Naidu, while circulating the ED director’s letter to the CBI director, also questioned Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for supporting Jaganmohan Reddy. He blamed KCR for interfering with the AP politics and reiterated that KCR wants AP’s development stopped to save his Telangana State. Naidu found that BJP, TRS and YSR Congress were working against him and the people of Andhra Pradesh and wanted the people to support him in the battle. However, it is to be seen if people buy his statements of sentiment or just take him non-serious on his development claims.
