Friends dump Naidu in national politics

Telugu Desam Party supremo Chandrababu Naidu played key role in the national politics just before the 2019 general elections. He was seen meeting one or the other leader at the national level, rallying them together against Bharatiya Janata Party, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He used to meet DMK chief M K Stalin, Janata Dal (Secular) chief H D Deve Gowda, his son and Karnataka chief minister H D Kumara Swamy, Trinamool Congress chief Mamatha Benerji, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawathi, Samajwadi chief Akhilesh Yadav, National Conference chief Faooq Abdhulla, Nationalist Congress chief Sharad Pawar, Aam Aadmi party chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, besides Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.

Chandrababu Naidu said that he would fight till the end to see that BJP is defeated and Narendra Modi is sent back to Gujarath in this election. He said that the unity of the Opposition parties, which was never seen, was the democratic compulsion. He justified his alliance with the Congress as the need of the nation. He gave a call to the nation to defeat BJP and protect the democratic institutions in the country being destroyed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

But, things were different for Chandrababu Naidu in the State. They were equally different for other leaders at the national level. The BJP had retained the power in the election. Narendra Modi had become Prime Minister for second term. All these leaders have tasted humiliating defeat in the Parliament elections, while Chandrababu Naidu had to see a crushing defeat in the Assembly elections, reducing his party to just 23 MLA seats.

After this humiliating defeat, no leader is seen with Chandrababu Naidu. Nor the TDP chief is going out to meet the opposition leaders. DMK chief Stalin was the special guest at the swearing-in ceremony of Jaganmohan Reddy. The other day, Karnataka chief minister Kumaraswamy’s son, Nikhil had paid a visit to Jaganmohan Reddy and greeted him on his election.

This shows that the national leaders have dropped Chandrababu Naidu and are looking towards Jaganmohan Reddy.
