Govt ready with new policy to take on TDP

The opposition Telugu Desam Party held State wide protest on Friday blaming the government for its failure to supply sand. The TDP ranks, led by party general secretary Nara Lokesh held the protests alleging that the government’s failure in supplying sand had crippled the construction industry and thus forced lakhs of construction workers jobless. The families of the construction workers across the state were starving for the past three months, the TDP leaders alleged.

Former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu also joined the protests and had even interacted with some of the construction workers who narrated him their difficulties as there is no work for the past three months. Chandrababu Naidu met some masons who briefed him how the construction industry in the State was made to suffer.

Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh at different meetings, came down heavily on the YSR Congress government. They blamed Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy for failing the state with his inexperienced decisions. The government had completely failed to run the administration, they said and added that there is chaos prevailing in every sector and every department. The investments to the State were going back due to mishandling by the government and its reverse decisions, the TDP leaders said.

Meanwhile, the State government is making arrangements to launch the new sand policy from September 5. The new policy is ready and the sand reaches too are ready. The government had placed the contractors for excavation and supply of the sand on demand to the people. The AP Mineral Development Corporation would monitor the sand supply to ensure that sand is available at the lowest price than it was available during the previous TDP government, the government officials said.

The YSR Congress is of the opinion that the previous TDP government and its leaders made huge money from sand despite the sand was said to be free. The TDP leaders were involved in the sand issues, which is one of the reasons for the party’s debacle in the 2019 general elections. There was opposition to the TDP all over the state with the TDP leaders looting the sand from every reach. The Jaganmohan Reddy government claims that it is not ready to earn such a bad name in sand. It is to be seen how this government handles the sand issue where a lot of money is involved
