Politics is a war and a game too. There is nothing like permanent in politics. It is all about for power. To be in power or to get power, the politicians keep changing their places. There are no permanent friends or foes in politics. It is all about winning.
Going by this logic – the fact is that there is no logic in politics and the only logic is victory – what Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao said about the alliance between the Congress and Telugu Desam in Telangana is not accepted. He cannot find fault with these two parties for having electoral understanding.
When Chandrasekhar Rao has to be defeated, the Opposition gets united and there is nothing wrong in Congress and TDP having alliance. In fact, Chandrasekhar Rao’s Telangana Rastra Samithi had aligned with the TDP and Congress earlier. When he is justified to have an alliance either with the Congress or TDP in the past, he cannot find fault with the Congress and TDP having the same electoral understanding.
His attack on the alliance shows his fear of losing or urge to increase his vote share. Interestingly, TRS was in alliance with the TDP, CPI and CPM in 2009 against the Congress. Politicians think that peoples’ memory is too short. But, it is here they go wrong or at least majority of them go wrong.
KCR wants to raise emotions or sentiments once again to retain his power. But, this time it won’t work for him as there is anti-incumbency though on the lower side. There would be a small portion of TRS vote going for the Congress this time for granting Telangana as a separate state. The Congress leaders have failed to claim it in 2014 but realised that the vote should come to them and are going extensively on this point. People are also welcoming the Congress on this line and for this reason.
The best option for KCR is to talk about his achievements and the failures of both Congress and TDP in the past and not about their alliance. The man who had an alliance with the two parties in the past cannot talk against the same alliance. It will not work for him as he believes but will certainly go against him.
