Former minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, who is heading the Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh is said to be unhappy with the party national leadership. Though he had planned to switch over to the YSR Congress, the BJP leadership had stopped him in the last minute and appointed him as the party State unit president.
Ever since he took over the reins of the party, he launched an aggressive attack on the ruling Telugu Desam Party in the State. He also took up State wide tour to activate the party cadre. But, he had faced several difficulties including law and order problem during his visit to the districts. There were couple of physical attacks on his tour by the TDP leaders and activists.
He went to the national capital and lodged complaints with the Prime Minister, BJP national president and the Union Home Minister against the TDP. He expected that the party national leadership and the Central government, particularly the Union Home Ministry, would react and take some action against the State government. He expected that the Home Ministry would give clear instructions to the State police chief on Kanna Lakshminarayana’s tour in the State.
However, nothing happened to his expectations. The BJP national leadership is silent on his complaints. What surprised him more was that the BJP did not react to the protests of the TDP leaders on Amit Shah’s convoy at Tirumala some time ago. This silent by the party national leadership has become painful for Kanna to move further.
Besides Kanna Lakshminarayana, the BJP leaders like Somu Veerraju and P V N Madhav are hard at their best in hitting at the TDP. Party young leader, Vishnuvardhan Reddy too was hard some time back but he is silent these days. He is not as aggressive as he was when TDP broke the alliance with the BJP. This silence is disturbing Kanna Lakshminarayana and the two other leaders, who are also MLCs.
Though BJP MP G V L Narasimha Rao is aggressive in attacking the TDP, the party leadership appears not so aggressive against the TDP. The party national leadership is not even making attempts to hit back hard at the TDP’s counters, except Ministers like Rajnath Singh making friendly comments on the TDP and Chandrababu Naidu.
With the national leadership not backing him as he expects, Kanna Lakshminarayana is said to be unhappy and had dropped his district tours. He had only covered some six districts after taking over the party and had experienced the TDP’s attacks. It is said that he is not ready to take up similar tours in the district, unless he gets the Union Home Ministry’s instructions to the State Home Ministry
