IYR joins BJP, a mild shocker for YCP, a big blow for TDP

Retired bureaucrat, I Y R Krishna Rao, who had been spitting fire on the ruling Telugu Desam Party in the State on ever since his retirement as chief secretary, had finally found his place in the Bharatiya Janata Party. He had joined the party in the presence of BJP national president Amit Shah in Hyderabad. BJP AP president Kanna Lakshminarayana had introduced Krishna Rao to Shah, who welcomed the retired chief secretary into the party.

Krishna Rao, after his retirement worked with the government for a brief period as chairman of the AP Brahmin Corporation. He quit the post following differences with the Chief Minister on various issues. After quitting the post, he started attacking the government on the new capital, Amaravati and had even penned a book against locating the capital here.

The ruling Telugu Desam Party leaders have branded him as the YSR Congress man for all these days. When he attended a meeting of the YSR Congress party with the Brahmins in Visakhapatnam, the TDP leaders were at their best in attributing motives to the former bureaucrat and alleging political conspiracy.

At one point of time, the YSR Congress too thought that Krishna Rao is a best bet for the party to beat Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP. However, giving them a mild shock, Krishna Rao had joined the BJP.

Now, Krishna Rao’s presence in the BJP is set to give tough time for the TDP to handle his attack. The BJP has handful of leaders like Kanna Lakshminarayana and GVL Narasimha Rao, going wild against the TDP. Though MLC Somu Veerraju and young leader Vishnuvardhan Reddy are seen attacking the TDP once in a while, they are not taken seriously by the people.

However, the attack on TDP by Kanna and GVL goes viral every time and now they have Krishna Rao on their side to hit at the TDP. It is, in a way, tough for the TDP to face the onslaught from the BJP in the days to come.
