Opposition leader and YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy predicted a big victory for his party in this election. He interacted with the media in the late hours after the polling on Thursday, where he thanked the people for the large turnout at the polling stations. He said that the massive turnout was a clear indication of the peoples’ anger against the government. He claimed that the people across the State wanted to end the misrule of Telugu Desam Party and Chandrababu Naidu.

However, Jaganmohan Reddy condemned the violence erupted at some places in the State and attributed it to the TDP and Chandrababu Naidu. He said that Chandrababu Naidu had tried at every level to disturb the polling by creating violence. The TDP also tried to bring down the voting percentage by spreading false news on violence or malfunctioning of the EVMs. He alleged that majority of the TDP leaders have tried to disturb the polling, including Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, who was chased at his Sathenapalli Assembly constituency by the people.

The TDP candidates at Denduluru, Eluru, Ananthapur and some other places have created violence and targeted the YSR Congress candidates. Two of the YSR Congress workers died in the violence, while one TDP worker died on the polling day. Jaganmohan Reddy said that the TDP chief had also threatened the Election Commission, which was a clear indication of his attempts to influence the voters. “Naidu did everything to influence the voters and bring down the poll percentage. He accused the YSR Congress of indulging in poll violations. It was all to terrorise the voters. But the voters proved to be clever than Chandrababu Naidu,” Jaganmohan Reddy said.

The YSR Congress is anticipating a big victory with over 120 Assembly constituencies and 20 MP seats this time. It is to be seen if this works for the party and gives a chance to Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been fighting his political battle since 2009, the time his father, Y S Rajasekhar Reddy died in the helicopter crash. He fought against Sonia Gandhi, the mighty power of UPA. He fought against the CBI, ED and every other force in the last 10 years. He had been in active politics for a decade, always fighting the battles and facing conspiracies against him. He lost the power in a narrow margin in 2014 and it is to be seen if this works for him.
