Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had offered prime post to his sulking uncle, Y V Subba Reddy, a former MP from Ongole. The former MP wanted to be in the fray this time too, but Jagan wanted him to work for the party, which he did not like initially. However, later on, he took up the responsibilities and was responsible for the party’s performance in the two Godavari districts, where the party did not get the numbers in the 2014 election.
The thumping victory of the YSR Congress was possible only because of its share received from the two Godavari districts this time. The party had won in 27 seats out of the 34 in the two Godavari districts, which was a big hit and was not possible but for the initiatives of Subba Reddy. It is for this reason, Jaganmohan Reddy had decided to reward his uncle with the post of the TTD chairman.
As the incumbent, Putta Sudhakar Yadav and his team in the TTD, that was appointed by the Telugu Desam Party government, is not ready prepared to quit the posts, the government is planning to issue orders scrapping the existing TTD. This would make things easy for Subba Reddy to take over the reins. The YSR Congress has some complaints on the TTD functioning and the jewels of the temple during the TDP government. Some of the decisions taken by the TDP government were also not in the liking of the YSR Congress.
It is likely that Jaganmohan Reddy government would review all these decisions and restore the records and build confidence among the faithful. Jaganmohan Reddy had already visited this temple town and worshiped Lord Venkateswara before taking oath . He is equally firm on giving highest priority to the temple town in all spheres and see that it is not taken up for political criticism.
