Jagan sets sight on two goals

Y S Jagan mohan Reddy

AP CM Jagan considers two issues very important. The first is elections to the local bodies and the second setting up of three state capitals. For both YSRCP and Jagan, these are prestigious issues. Seven months ago YSRCP swept to power in the general elections. It won 151 seats in 175-member Assembly. The party also bagged 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats, creating a new record. However, a lot has changed in these seven months. Jagan delivered various welfare schemes for the people.

He enhanced the pension and launched schemes for various sections. Despite facing opposition from many, he vowed to introduce English medium in government-run schools. At the same time he is implementing Rythu Bharosa. He also started implementation of another key scheme Amma Vodi. In this context, the Jagan government is taking as prestigious the local body elections scheduled to be held soon. Jagan has decided to move ahead with a strategy to strengthen the grip on the districts by making a clean sweep in these elections.

Recently Jagan gave directions to district level leaders on how to carry the party activists along and how should the leaders conduct themselves.

He recently held a video conference with the district level leaders. Jagan is said to have told them that he will soon release Rs.1 crore each for MLAs and directed them to use these funds for the development of the districts and educate people on the government schemes. If we look at the situation prevailing in the state, only Jagan and few ministers appear very active. MLAs are in despair that they are not being given funds. That’s why Jagan is trying to create josh among them. In this context at the recent meeting with the district level leaders, Jagan asked them to move ahead with a clear-cut action plan.

The second issue is formation of three capitals. Jagan told the district level leaders that he will not go back on three capitals and asked them to explain the issue to people in a positive manner. He wanted the leaders to tell people that YSRCP has no bias towards any region, development of all regions is important and YSRCP government is moving ahead with a clear plan to ensure development of backward regions. Overall, the YSRCP leaders say, Jagan is taking steps as part of a strategy to win local body elections and create awareness among all about the capital.
