Jagan shuffles district in-charge ministers

Chief Minister Y S Jagan mohan Reddy had shuffled the district in-charge ministers on Sunday. Except Industries Minister Mekapati Gautham Reddy, who was made in-charge of Chittoor district last time, the rest of the Ministers were shifted to the new district.

After the new cabinet swearing-in on June 8, the chief minister had appointed his cabinet colleagues as district in-charge ministers on July 4. However, on October 20, he changed them and given them new districts, perhaps to keep them move from district to district and monitor the party affairs too.

It was only the other day the chief minister had appointed 30 spokespersons for the party, a large contingent, to defend the opposition Telugu Desam Party’s attack on the government. The TDP is making its moves fast with leaders like Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Devineni Umamaheswar Rao, Varla Ramaiah, Panchumanrti Anuradha, Y V B Rajendra Prasad, and Buddha Venkanna, who can make their point clear even speaking at the top of their voice.

Perhaps to match these spokespersons of the TDP, the chief minister saw the need to have the in-charge ministers shuffled. The chief minister had roped in three ministers, Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao, Adimulapu Suresh and Balineni Srinivasa Reddy were given district responsibilities, while Mekathoti Sucharita, Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas and Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose were dropped from the district list.

The chief minister is understood to have decided to use the Ministers for fulltime in the cabinet as they hold key posts of revenue, home and health and they have become the priorities of the chief minister. There is so much for the revenue minister to sit at the desk to settle the land issues and the new land acquisition policy, besides house sites to be given to the poor for Ugadi.

Even the Home Minister is required to spend more time in her office addressing the law and order issues, particularly in the light of the opposition TDP planning to disturb the law and order to prove that Jagan is a failed Chief Minister. The health and family welfare too has become an important ministry for Jaganmohan Reddy as he is planning to re-launch Arogya sri and develop the government hospitals in a large scale. It is for these reasons that the Ministers were shuffled to hold the district in-charge posts.
