His name is V.V. Lakshminarayana but he is popular as JD Lakshminarayana. Last year he resigned as IPS officer to enter the politics. He said he was unable to serve people by being in the government job and hence he quit his job to come into politics. Subsequently he visited various parts of Andhra Pradesh. He met the farmers and inquired about their problems. Lakshminarayana says these visits helped him increase his awareness.
Initially there were reports that Lakshminarayana will join BJP. Then there were speculations that he will join TDP. People also said he will contest on Jana Sena ticket. Lakshminarayana, however, did not join any of these parties but decided to support Lok Satta. Now elections in Andhra Pradesh are announced, there was no clarity yet on whether Lakshminrayana will contest the elections or not. However, he cleared the air by announcing that he will contest the coming elections.
There is an interesting debate on in Andhra Pradesh as to from where JD will contest the election and on the ticket of which party. If we analyse the movements of Lakshminarayana for last few days we will get some clarity on from which constituency he will contest. During last few days JD Lakshminarayana several times visited Srikakulam district. He is passionate about backward district. That’s why he has adopted Sahalalaputtuga village in Kaviti mandal of Srikakulam district. For last one and half years he has been focusing on the development of this village. This has now become a model village. Prohibition is also being implemented in this village.
With Lakshminarayana frequently visiting Srikakulam district and adopting a village, there are more chances of his contesting from Itchapuram constituency. Though Lakshminarayana is from Kurnool district, for last two years he has been focusing on Srikakulam. He believes that popularity and honesty will help him win. It is clear that he will not contest on the ticket of TDP, YSR Congress or BJP. Since Lok Satta has alliance with his party, it is being said that he will enter the fray as the candidate of that party.
