Kesineni Srinivas and Potluri Vara Prasad have fought the electoral battle some two months ago. The battle was unhealthy as the two made even personal allegations against each other. In the battle for the Vijayawada Lok Sabha Constituency, Kesineni had won and Potluri lost. The exchange of allegations took back seat after the elections, with Kesineni going to the Parliament and Potluri going to his home at Hyderabad.
After the oath-taking ceremony, Kesineni started using the social media to hit back at his critics and rivals within the Telugu Desam Party. He targeted his rivals in his social media posts and it went directly to TDP Vijayawada urban unit president and MLC Buddha Venkanna, accusing him of illiterate and even a footwear thief at Kanakadurga temple. The TDP in Vijayawada was finally divided between Kesineni and his rivals, with other leaders, except Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Ramamohan, either supporting Kesineni or opposing him.
Kesineni was upset with the way former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao intervened in the party affairs in the last five years. He had an upper hand over Kesineni and made party chief Chandrababu Naidu to ignore the MP for six months. This seems to have pained Kesineni, who took on his rivals, immediately after his election.
Unfortunately, Potluri too joined the battle targeting Kesineni, and the battle is taking ugliest turn over the last one week. The two leaders are coming up with social media posts accusing each other of cheating banks and indulging in financial fraud. They are exposing how the other one had cheated the banks, which is a news for the people of Vijayawada. As it appears, the two leaders are washing their dirty linen in the public using social media, which is not healthy. It is better if they stop this nuisance, at least Kesineni, being MP, should stop first and should not get provoked by the defeated candidate.
