Naidu admits his mistake of fighting against Centre

Chandrababu Naidu

Telugu Desam Party supremo and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu realised and admitted that the fight against the Central government had cost him dearly. He said that the TDP had lost in the fight, while the State too suffered. He said that the leadership had to be cautious in future from taking such decisions.
The TDP chief had pulled out of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government at the Centre in 2018 after the budget session. He then launched Dharma Porata Deeksha against the Centre and held series of the meetings across the state and even in Delhi where he targeted the BJP leadership. Chandrababu Naidu exposed the BJP for its failure to give special category status to the State and fulfil the bifurcation promises.
Now, after the humiliating defeat in the 2019 general elections, Naidu, at the review meeting with the party leaders in Visakhapatnam, admitted that the fight against the Central government was a big mistake. Chandrababu Naidu believed and trusted that the party could win the 2019 elections by projecting BJP as big enemy to the State. Unfortunately, he failed to understand that the BJP is insignificant in Andhra Pradesh politics.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Chandrababu Naidu committed a mistake by pulling out of the alliance and had fallen in the Jaganmohan Reddy’s trap. In fact, Naidu believed that Jaganmohan Reddy was ahead of him by taking up the special category status (SCS) demand. Though Naidu himself had given up the special category status demand and said that the SCS is a history, he took U turn and raised the demand.
He rallied against the BJP and had held series of meetings with the Congress and other non-BJP parties before the elections. He paid heavy price for his anti-BJP agitation, which he is slowly realising it. He could not get any benefit from the alliance with the Congress in Telangana and dropped the Congress in Andhra Pradesh in the subsequent election.
