Telugu Desam Party supremo and former chief minister, Leader of Opposition in Assembly, N Chandrababu Naidu, was away from the State on the 73rd Independence Day celebrations. He is camping in his house in Hyderabad, when the State was celebrating the event. Naidu was the chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh for a little more than nine years and later for five years after bifurcation. He had been in political life for over four decades. However, as chief minister, he had always been active before and after bifurcation and never skipped the Governor’s At Home treat.
Even after his defeat in 2004 and as Opposition Leader in the undivided State, he was seen attending the At Home event in Raj Bhavan. Surprisingly, he skipped it in Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada this time. The State, after bifurcation, had a new Governor and new Raj Bhavan. The At Home, was for the first time for both the State and the Governor. He was expected to be there as farmer chief minister and as Leader of Opposition. But he opted to be out of this first event in the state after bifurcation.
Surprisingly, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan too chose to be out of this event. Though camping in Vijayawada, holding the party review meetings, he was not present for the Governor’s At Home treat. He attended similar events in Hyderabad before the 2019 elections, at a time when he was making tall claims of his political career and his future. But, once the people have shown him what he is for AP politics, he skipped the event, where he would be meeting leaders of other political parties.
The BJP chief Kanna Lakshminarayana along with his party leaders, CPI secretary K Ramakrishna and other leaders were present besides Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy were present at the event.
