Telugu Desam Party supremo Chandrababu Naidu met Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Sunday. Naidu, who had been opposed to Sonia leadership for all these years and had called her an Italian Devil, particularly after bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, is now finding some divine leadership in her and making rounds to the 10 JanPath. He is scheduled to visit Sonia Gandhi once again on Monday evening.
Though the exit polls gave clear edge to the NDA, the TDP supremo is still hopeful of keeping Narendra Modi away from the hot seat. He is now trying to bring the non-UPA parties for alliance with the Congress. The Bahujan Samaj Party, the Samajwadi Party, the All India Trinamool Congress and the Left Front are not part of the UPA, which are key players with some handsome numbers in hand. The Congress is also looking at the Biju Janata Dal from Odisha and Telangana Rastra Samithi from Telangana, for support. UPA’s DMK is likely to win some handful number of seats this time that would give some advantage to the UPA as the DMK is already backing Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister candidate.
The BSP, SP and Trinamool are the key players set to win some good number of seats and their support would mean something good for the Congress. Even the support from the BJD and TRS is also a bonus to the Congress to stake claim. However, it is to be seen if BJD joins the front as it had been keeping equal distance from the NDA and UPA for the past several years. Even the TRS is now working on a federal front and it is to be seen if the party would back Congress, as desired.
Chandrababu Naidu held talks with BSP, SP and AAP leaders and finally convinced to back the Congress so as to keep NDA out of power. Though Trinamool chief Mamatha Benerji too is opposing Modi as prime minister for another term, it is to be seen if she would support the Congress this time or would stay away.
