Telugu Desam Party supremo and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu told the people during his election campaign on Tuesday that YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy does not deserve any consideration for voting. He cautioned the people against giving any consideration to the YSR Congress chief in this election as that would hamper the development of the State. He tried to impress upon the voters that vote to Jaganmohan Reddy would stall all the developmental works that he had initiated in the last five years. The growth of the State would come to a grinding halt and the State would witness series of criminal activities, Naidu said.
This statement gives an impression or rather authenticates the strong feeling among the voters on giving a chance to Jaganmohan Reddy. “Let’s give him one chance” is the message heard across the State in favour of Jaganmohan Reddy. Even the two Godavari districts have this feeling among the voters. Perhaps this feeling must have come to the notice of Chandrababu Naidu too which he tried to counter and convince the people against having any considerations towards Jaganmohan Reddy.
Chandrababu Naidu is conducting his campaign on two core issues – the continuation of development which is possible with the TDP victory and the fear of impending crime in the State if Jagan is voted to power. He emphasises that the developmental works like Polavaram Project and Amaravati capital city are his two core issues and he wants people to vote for continuation and completion of these works. He is presenting the progress reports on these two projects to the people, mostly in the digital form with vehicles having LED screens going around the State.
The other factor is his allegation of increasing corruption and criminal activities in the State if Jaganmohan Reddy is voted to power. He takes the incidents like the attack on Jaganmohan Reddy in Visakhapatnam airport and the murder of Vivekananda Reddy. He says that both the incidents are aimed at getting some sympathy for Jaganmohan Reddy and were part of the criminal attitude of the YSR Congress chief. He attributes both the incidents to Jaganmohan Reddy and tries to convince them and makes them feel scared.
The issue of Jaganmohan Reddy’s loyalties to TRS and BJP too are also the issues of Chandrababu Naidu’s campaign, but his focus is more on the two factors of development and violence. It is to be seen what people would decide as the election date is fast approaching.
