Telugu Desam Party supremo and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is camping in Delhi getting support for his demand for counting of the VVPATs (voter verifiable paper audit trail) in this elections. He alleged that the 30 per cent of the EVMs did not work on April 11 polling in Andhra Pradesh and they were reported to be malfunctioning and tempered. He demanded re-polling in all polling booths wherever the complaints were reported against the EVMs.
However, the Election Commission had rejected the demand for re-polling. The EC had also rejected for counting of all VVPATs and said that the EC was ready for demonstration on the credibility of the EVMs. Chandrababu Naidu had been alleging that the EVMs could be tampered as they are just machines. “The machines work as per the programme. It is all in the hands of the person who programms them,” Chandrababu Naidu said.
The TDP chief alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had used the EC to work against the TDP in Andhra Pradesh elections. He further said that the EVMs were programmed in such a way that any vote cast to the TDP was given to the Opposition YSR Congress. He alleged that Narendar Modi had influenced the EC to work in favour of the YSR Congress and against the TDP in Andhra Pradesh.
“The people of Andhra Pradesh have realised the big conspiracy by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao and YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy to defeat the TDP. The malfunctioning of the EVMs on April 11 in Andhra Pradesh was a clear indication of this conspiracy. The EVMs too were programmed to help the YSR Congress,” Chandrababu Naidu alleged and demanded that the EC count all the VVPATs this time.
Having claimed that the TDP is set to win 130 Assembly seats this time, as the voters, particularly the women and aged, who are the beneficiaries of his schemes, have turned up in large numbers. He said that the presence of the voters at the polling booths from the morning to the evening was a clear indication to the continuation of the government. However, he expressed doubts that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had influenced the Election Commission to programme the EVMs in favour of the YSR Congress. He is accusing the EC of being biased against the TDP and claimed the transfer of the senior IPS officers and the Chief Secretary in the process. It is to be seen what Naidu would do in the days to come in his fight against the EC and the EVMs
