Former chief minister and Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu is ready for a two-day sojourn to the three north coastal districts from Thursday. He would stay in the party office at Visakhapatnam and meet the party leaders.
The TDP chief, who is now in Hyderabad, would reach Visakhapatnam by flight on Thursday and proceed to the party office. He is expected to stay in the first floor of the party for the next two days.
The TDP chief would hold review meeting with the party leaders of party Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. He is scheduled to meet the party leaders as per the Assembly constituencies.
The party chief is expected to review the party’s performance in the 2019 general elections, discuss with them on the reasons for the party’s defeat and the need to revive the party and prepare the rank and file for the impending local body elections.
Chandrababu Naidu is making desperate moves to keep the party alive despite the series of exit of leaders from the party after its humiliating defeat. Naidu, a Machiavellian, was swift in picking up issues to give new lease of life to the party. Chalo Athmakuru and Kodela Sivaparasada Rao episodes have helped him in giving some activity to the party rank and file and grab some space from the media.
Though he still enjoys some support in the media, he is running out of issues to keep the party alive and active to utilise the available space in the media. Perhaps the review of Uttarandhra for the next two days, is aimed at grabbing some space from the media and rejuvenate the rank and file for the days to come.
It is to be seen how far he would succeed in keeping the party relevant, particularly when the ruling party has an unquestionable strength of 151 MLAs in a 175 member Assembly.
