Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati is currently touring the two Telugu States campaigning for her party candidates and her ally, the Jana Sena. She had addressed two meetings in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada on Wednesday and scheduled to address two meetings at Tirupathi and Hyderabad on Thursday. She is now in the race for the Prime Minister post anticipating that neither the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA nor the Congress-led UPA get the required numbers. She is predicting a hung Parliament in this election and thus the mantle would fall on her for the Prime Minister slot. In fact, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan supported her candidature for the Prime Minister post.
Receiving Mayawati in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, the Jana Sena chief fell on the feet of the leader and sought her blessings. The BSP chief took it cool and said that Pawan Kalyan would be the chief minister candidate of her alliance. She wanted people to elect Pawan Kalyan, who is a visionary and had commitment for the people. She appealed to the voters to support the BSP-JSP combine, besides the Left parties, to see that the young leader is made the chief minister of this state.
While it is not known how far Pawan Kalyan would be able to help Mayawati, both in AP and outside, in fulfilling her dream of becoming the Prime Minister, the Jana Sena chief had openly declared that the BSP chief is a fit candidate for the Prime Minister post. He said he would lobby in Delhi for Mayawati to be the Prime Minister candidate of the non-NDA and non-UPA parties after the elections. However, Mayawati is still banking on the support from Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy to support her in the national politics. It is for this reason that the BSP chief did not hit at either of them in her election meetings, but took Prime Minister Narendra Modi to target.
