Sanyasi Patrudu joins YSRC

Chintakayala Sanyasi Patrudu, the brother of former TDP Minister Ayyanna Patrudu, joined the YSRCP in the presence of Party President and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the party central office here on Monday.

He was a key person in Narsipatnam constituency of Visakhapatnam district who served as the municipal chairman of Narsipatnam. Speaking on the occasion, Sanyasi Patrudu said he would strive hard to strengthen the party in the district. He said he joined the party impressed by the welfare schemes being implemented by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Sanyasi Patrudu said that the YSR Congress party was giving 50 per cent reservations to SC, ST, BC and minorities in nominated posts.

Party General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member, V Vijay Sai Reddy said there was an exodus to the party as leaders believed that YSRCP is the future. He said that the Chief Minister was doing justice to the people with the implementation welfare schemes as part of Navratnalu programme and Jagan Mohan Reddy was leading the state in the path of progress.

With the Chintakayala family joining the YSR Congress, the TDP is further weakened in North Andhra region, particularly in Visakhapatnam. Both Chinthakayala Ayyanna Pathrudu and Ganta Srinivasa Rao have been at logger heads for several years. Now, for the time being, Ganta would have upper hand in the party affairs in the region while Ayyanna Pathrudu takes the back seat with his family’s defection.

However, it is said that Ganta too is on the way out from the TDP. It was expected to happen a month ago, but was postponed due to some personal and political reasons. It is said that Ganta is weighing the two options of joining the ruling YSR Congress or moving towards the Bharatiya Janata Party. Either way, he would be losing his MLA post on his defection and it here he is looking for an assurance from the parties that admit him. Once this deal is finalised, the TDP would have no face in the north Andhra region except Atchannaidu from Srikakulam district.
