State gears up for Modi’s visit to Tirupathi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Having won for the second consecutive term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Tirupathi, the temple town, on Sunday. The State government is making all arrangements for the visit, while the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership in the State is organising a public meeting to be addressed by the Prime Minister.

The temple authorities have spruced up the temple area for the visit of the Prime Minister. They are ready to welcome the Prime Minister with all religious and temple ceremonies. While it is not known whether Governor ESL Narasimhan and chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy would visit Tirupathi to receive the Prime Minister, the officials are already in place to offer ceremonial reception.

After worshiping Lord Venkateswara, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address the people of the State from the town on the BJP’s dais. People of the State are awaiting the Prime Minister to fulfill his 2014 promise of giving special category status and extending financial support, after bifurcation. Not much is done in the last five years, as the chemistry between the Prime Minister and the then chief minister did not work well. Except for the initial one or two months, the relationship between Narendra Modi and then chief minister Chandrababu Naidu did not help in developing the State as expected.

Narendra Modi had promised to help the State to have a capital greater then Delhi. Chandrababu Naidu said the capital would be a world class city. But, nothing much happened as promised by the leaders and as expected by the people. Now, the Prime Minister had won the election. The chief minister had lost the election and new one had come in place. As of now and so far, the relationship between Narendra Modi and Jaganmohan Reddy is good. It is to be seen whether the Prime Minister would make any announcement or limit his speech to just thank the people for voting him again.
