TDP leader behind Yelamanchali Ravi joining YSR Congress

The news that former MLA from Vijayawada East constituency Yelamanchali Ravi is joining YSR Congress has caused sensation in Vijayawada politics. Ravi, who was with TDP till recently, has decided to contest the coming elections to enter the assembly. However, he did not get any assurance in this regard from TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu. Following, this he felt that there is no use continuing in TDP and that he should chart his own course. He immediately decided to join YSR Congress. Yelamanchali Ravi’s relative is behind his decision to switch loyalties to YSR Congress and his meeting with Jagan.

Yelamanchali Ravi will formally join YSR Congress in Vijayawada on April 14. A TDP leader of Vijayawada is said to be reason for his Ravi’s decision. It is being said that Citi Cable MD Potluri Saibabu, who belongs to TDP, ensured that Ravi quit the TDP and join YSR Congress. Ravi is not a well-known leader. Though he served as MLA in the past, many people in the constituency don’t know him. He is an ordinary political leader who is not seen among people except during campaign. For last few days there have been speculations that he is quitting the TDP.

There have been reports that Citi Cable MD Sai Babu paved the way for Ravi’s decision to join YSR Congress. Sai Babu got fiber contracts and other small construction works from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and has thus benefited. He left no stone unturned to see that his rival Ravi joins YSR Congress. People say that he created a situation where Ravi had to leave TDP so that nobody challenges him in the constituency. It is being said that he finalized the schedule of Ravi’s meeting with YSR Congress leader. There is shock over the manner in which leaders of TDP, which is known for discipline, are fighting over petty issues. It remains to be seen how Babu solves this.
