Megastar Chiranjeevi appeared on the political scene like lightening and then disappeared. There were many reasons for his biding goodbye to politics. Chiru wanted to be one who is for all but with the political entry he was confined to few. Those who were with him in his journey for decades turned his rivals. When they were all criticizing him and making allegations, the sensitive megastar did not like it. After glittering as number one star on silver screen, he did not want to be a dull star on political screen.
Chiranjeevi himself said this at the pre-release event of ‘Sarileru Nekevvaru’. He recalled that due to politics there was a gap between him and his co-actor Vijayashanti. Someone who doesn’t hide anything in his heart, Chiru said they worked together in 20 films and were nieghbours in Madras but lived as one family. “Such was our friendship but how could you say all those things about me,” Chiru asked her. Vijayashanti, who had entered politics before Chiranjeevi launched Praja Rajyam, responded by saying politics and films are two different worlds. Vijayashanti was initially taken aback as she did not expect that megastar will ask her such a question in public. Chiru commented that politics create enemies but cinema brings people together.
Megastar made a request to Telugu CMs KCR and Jagan. The request was to make sure that superstar Krishna is awarded Indian film industry’s highest honour Dadasahab Phalke award. He requested both the CMs to join hands for this. Chiru expressed his concern over Krishna not getting the due recognition. He said there is no other hero like Krishna in South Indian film industry as the super star worked in 350 films to create all-time record. Megastar also recalled Krishna’s contribution in development of cine industry by using the latest technology.
It appears that after making a re-entry on silver screen, the megastar is trying to firm up his grip in the film industry. Usually he attends audio functions of only Geetha Arts films or movies of his family members. However, these days he is attending all the events he is being invited to and thus becoming centre of attraction. By giving his advise for the betterment of the film industry, he gets along well with younger ones and elder ones. In the past, Dasari Narayan Rao used to follow the same path. By solving the problems faced by the industry, he came to be known as the trouble shooter. After his death, only Chiranjeevi has the capabilities to fill the vacuum left by him. He has decades long relationship with the film industry and his friendship with all adds value to his words. His speeches show that the development of the industry is his life’s ambition.
