Vizag already a capital?

Who said Visakhapatnam is not the capital. It can be said that the administration started working from Visakhapatnam. Though protest by farmers are continuing for last two months to demand that Amaravati be retained as the capital, no change is seen in the government’s decision to have executive capital in Vizag. Moreover, if looked carefully Vizag is looking as executive capital for last few days. Barring chief minister Jagan, ministers are doing most of their work from Vizag.

It can be said that the dream capital has come true for Vizag. How the activities are conducted in the capital, in the same manner it is being done in Vizag. Most of the officials and ministers are staying there. They are conducting review meetings there. It looks that they are performing all the administrative work from Vizag. Very few ministers are going to the secretariat in Amaravati. It was on December 10 that Jagan has announced in the Assembly that Visakhapatnam will be developed as executive capital. However, officially it has not been shifted.

Ministers are giving indications that the capital has moved to Vizag. Recently United Nations Industrial Development conference on industrial and trade development in AP was held in Vizag. Minister Mekapati Gowtam Reddy held a review meeting as well. He held a meeting with CEOs of IT companies from across the state. Another minister Botsa Satyanarayana is holding key review meetings here.

Botsa Satyanarayana held in Vizag a meeting on the measures to be taken in advance to tackle drinking water problem during summer. Municipal officials from 13 districts attended the meeting. Botsa held the review with commissioners of municipal corporations and municipalities and engineers. He discussed with them the measures needed to be taken to deal with the water shortage. Meetings like these are usually held in the capital. However, as the farmers in Amaravati are continuing their protest and stopping the ministers, most of the ministers are holding review meetings of their departments in Vizag. As a result of this it looks that the dream of Vizag as the executive capital has come true.
