There was no official communication on the withdrawal of two Telugu news channels in Andhra Pradesh. There were claims of unofficial orders from the Ministers to all the cable operators to withdraw the two Telugu channels. The ABN Andhra Jyothi and TV5 have disappeared from the cable TV network in the State. This was expected given the rivalry that these media houses have voluntarily nursed against late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy family. Eenadu and Andhra Jyothi groups have been opposed to Rajasekhar Reddy from the beginning. Eenadu has some genuine reason, as it had been against the Congress from the beginning and had backed late N T Rama Rao in launching Telugu Desam Party in 1982 and leading it to victory. The anti-Congress line had made him to oppose the Congress as a whole and its leader Rajasekhar Reddy in particular.
But what was the ideological reason for Andhra Jyothi to oppose the Congress or its leader Rajasekhar Reddy earlier and Jaganmohan Reddy now? There is no ideological reason. Andhra Jyothi’s owner, Vemuri Radha Krishna, had no ideological issues to differ with the Congress or the Y S family. He is loyal to Chandrababu Naidu, not even to the Telugu Desam Party or its founder late N T Rama Rao, like Ramoji Rao of Eenadu group.
As a reporter, when he moved from Vijayawada to Hyderabad in early 1990s, he took the TDP beat as a second reporter in the bureau and thus became close to several of the TDP leaders in the process. His loyalty to Chandrababu Naidu is thus cemented over the years and his rivalry with YS family continues
