Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party supremo Chandrababu Naidu claimed that the large turnout of women voters at the polling stations was to favour the TDP and not the YSR Congress. He said that the women have cast their votes to secure their future as promised by him and not to the advantage of the YSR Congress and its chief Jaganmohan Reddy.
“Who is Jaganmohan Reddy for these women? Why would they vote for him? They have come and cast their votes for the TDP as I have promised to protect their future and the future of their children. It is for this reason they have come in large numbers,” Chandrababu Naidu told a media conference on Friday. The TDP chief said that he had a proven track record in administration where he had given welfare to the people, particularly the women. He had also promised a better future for the women and their families. It is for that reason that the women and aged persons, the beneficiaries of his government’s Pasupu Kunkuma, Annadata Sukheebhava and pension schemes.
“I have done something to the people and they have come? to the polling booths to give me their blessings. What did Jaganmohan Reddy do for these people? Had he done anything or had he promised anything for the women?” he asked and said that there was a silent revolution in the State in favour of the TDP and his administration. “People are not happy to give this state to a criminal. They know that the state is safe only in his hands and not Jaganmohan Reddy, who is a known criminal,” the TDP chief said.
He further alleged that Jaganmohan Reddy had tried to lure the voters by distributing money to them during the elections. He alleged that Jaganmohan Reddy had distributed Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 to each of the voters. “I wonder where did an Opposition party get this huge money from? How did Jaganmohan Reddy get this money to distribute to the voters? This is where KCR (Telangana chief minister) is involved in. He had funded the election for Jaganmohan Reddy to defeat me,” Chandrababu Naidu said.
Yes, there was silent revolution among the people on the day of polling and that is visible with the voters forming serpentine queues at the polling booths waiting for hours. The polling continued till 12.30 in the morning on the next day indicating a wave. But the question is was that in favour of the TDP or YSR Congress?
