The political parties are setting their eyes on the potential leaders as the elections are fast approaching. The ruling Telugu Desam party too is looking towards leaders like APNGO president P Ashok Babu, besides others, to add some glamour to the party before the elections. The Congress is also trying to get back its leaders like former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, former MPs Undavalli Arun Kumar, G V Harsha Kumar, Sabbam Hari and others. The exercise is on in every party to have new faces as they ready for the next electoral battle.
Jana Sena, the new entrant for the 2019 race, too is stretching its hands towards the new leaders. It is also looking for some senior leaders from different parties who still enjoy popular support. One of them is former minister Dadi Veerabhadra Rao from Visakhapatnam district on whom the Jana Sena is pinning its hopes.
A seasoned politician, Dadi has been a fighter for the development of the region. He has been a strong leader in the Telugu Desam Party for several years and just before the 2014 elections, he joined the YSR Congress. He represented the Anakapalle Assembly constituency for three consecutive terms since 1989 but lost twice in 2004 and 2009. He was also an MLC till 2013 and left the TDP as Chandrababu Naidu denied another term and joined the YSR Congress.
However, he left the YSR Congress also after the 2014 elections and since then he had been neutral. He was known for his commitment to the development of the State. He worked for the prestigious Polavaram project and lobbied for it both in the State and at the Centre. He still enjoys some credibility both in political parties and the general public and is set to be a potential candidate for the Jana Sena if he joins the party.
Meanwhile, the sources in Jana Sena say that the party chief is considering Veerabhadra Rao’s candidature for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency. If Dadi wants to go to the Parliament through the Jana Sena, he still has the choice to choose between Visakhapatnam and Anakapalle. We might have to wait for some more months to see his next move.
