Jagan continues to make all efforts to control opposition leader Chandrababu. Whenever Jagan is getting an opportunity, he is taking decisions to put Chandrababu in a tight spot. Jagan took a similar decision in Kuppam constituency which is represented by Chandrababu. Jagan has decided to upgrade Kuppam gram panchayat into a municipality and the elections is said to be the reason behind his decision.
In fact before the elections Chandrababu wanted to make Kuppam a municipality. He had also called a proposal from the officials. However, this could not become a reality. However, Jagan who came to power in this election, made Kuppam a municipality. This is also not without reasons. It is learnt that Jagan took this decision to create problems for leader of opposition Chandrababu.
YSRCP leaders say Jagan has done the work which could not be done by Chandrababu as the chief minister in his constituency. YSRCP leaders alleged that Chandrababu has done nothing for Kuppam constituency and pointed out that because of this his majority in the previous elections came down. Chandrababu has been representing Kuppam since 1989. YSRCP leaders alleged that though he was elected seven times, he could not make Kuppam a municipality.
Kuppam, Ramakuppam, Gudipalle and Shantipuram mandals come under Kuppam constituency. Chilipalle, Dalavai Kuttapalle, Somaguttapalle, Tambiganipalle, Animiganipalle, and Kamatamuru panchayats have merged with Kuppam municipality. Jagan’s strategy is to wrest Kuppam constituency. YSRCP leaders feel that if the party wrests Kuppam municipality, in a way this will be defeat of Chandrababu. That’s why Jagan made Kuppam municipality.
